Hello maties! Today's anime review is about Zero no Tsukaima. This anime used to be my favorite anime back when I started binging anime. It was also during the time when I watched Dubbed anime. Although due to the anime only having a after the first series I had to watch it in Sub. This is also the main anime that got me on my way to Subbed anime. Any ways, let's get into the review.
Zero no Tsukaima is about Louise who is a magician at the Tristein Academy, dubbed with the nickname "Zero Louise" due to her inability to effectively use her magic properly, resulting in zero successes. An upcoming test at her academy requires her to summon a familiar, a servant and partner to support her as a magician. Despite desiring a familiar that would be superior to her constantly mocking classmates, Louise ends up summoning Hiraga Saito, your average Japanese boy. Even with Louise and Saito both unwilling to accept each other, they have no choice. Louise cannot attempt another summoning and Saito cannot return to Japan, and so their life together begins.
Plot 7/10
Surprisingly this doesn't have such a bad plot as most harem, romance, and comedy anime do. And surprisingly it's hard for me to spot out plot holes and stuff in this series.
-In the beginning of the anime Colbert notices the runes on Saito's hands and goes to talk to the headmaster about it. They end up saying that it's close to the runes that Gandálfr had. But instead of telling Saito and training him properly to handle the runes. But instead they keep it secret and because of this it take him a while to actually be able to understand what his runes are for. And it also makes the journey hard on him.
Characters 5/10
I gotta admit, the MC is just like every OP harem MC there is. Except he's like able, and learns how to control his powers through out the entire series and not just season one. plus unlike most MC's he does indeed pick a girl.
- Although all the things I said above are true, keep in mind that Saito is still just another generic harem MC character.
-Also, the main character is just another generic Tsundere.
Soundtrack 7/10
I really like the opening for this anime. Not just the first season. But the entire series openings.
Art 7/10
This anime IS 4 years old but it still has amazing art for it's time
Animation 6/10
As I said this anime is kinda old so of course it's gonna be kinda bad when it comes to this stuff.
Enjoyment 7/10
There were times when I was getting kinda mad at the series and other where I completely loved it. It took me on a two trips. A feels trip and a confusion trip because I had several different feelings about it. But over all I really liked it.
Over all 7/10
I recommend this anime for newcomers who are looking to get into anime and for people looking to suggest anime for their friends to get into. I also recommend this for veterans who are looking for good harem or action, romance anime. it handles every genre it has amazingly. (It has nine by the way. To pull of that many genres in one anime AND do it well is impressive)
Any ways, that wraps this review up.
Until next time.
